Hi, I'm Adam

A math tutor from Burwood.

Helping students with math is what I do

Tutor maths to succeed

Throughout my 10-year teaching, I have had incredible learners, and have cherished the adventure of continuously learning about innovative methods of approaching a material so that it is important and cool for the person I teach.

The way I teach

The teaching ideology of mine is student-focused: my aim is always to set up an encouraging, enjoyable and friendly workspace for discovering how to thrive.
I react immediately to the needs of every child I tutor, constructing my teaching manner so that it best serves their individuality and skill levels.

I also suppose that learners get to know best if they're working on exersises associated with their education. This speaks of writing tasks, using games, making rhymes, drawing pictures, presentations, and other kinds of interaction, which makes learners energised and stimulated regarding the object.

I teach proficiently and thoroughly, promptly assessing areas for improvement, then applying simple pattern spotting ways (if appropriate). I focus on creating basic tasks for the student make their particular perception of the situation. It is a big satisfaction to learn interesting and new methods of presenting the material for it to be always fresh and interesting for the student and for me.

Feelings, emotions and tutoring mathematics

Through encouragement, humour, and patience, I constantly strive to teach my learners that they can much more than they realise.
I feel that my willingness to adapt teaching techniques according to the necessities of learners, subject matter, and student demographics are all vital for me to be successful as a teacher.
My teaching is based on the trust that the only way to uncover maths is to do mathematics. Whereas the process of reading examples and proofs from lecture notes and in textbooks is valuable, the real understanding comes through one's own efforts at solving mathematical problems, either computational, theoretical, or both.
I have also learnt that giving assignments which directly relate to the learner's own life can help out their learning the topic and understanding its application.

My interests

My interests

My absolute favorite weekend activity is grilling and cooking. I initially started to cook when I went away to college, but my parent are serious foodies and I grew up having to spend (usually reluctantly) a lot of time in the kitchen, mainly shucking corn for bbqs and squeezing oranges for Sunday brunches . I now love to throw dinner events, and barely a weekend goes by without a gourmet barbie or some other cooking event - my main specialty at this point being large pieces of chicken.
